Dining Chair

The chair in original cover

This Dining Chair needed a new pad as well as a new cover. The seat was pulling away from the frame where the nailing had damaged and split the frame – so some repair work looked to be needed.

The nailing edge trim was carefully removed, avoiding further damage to the frame.

The old stuffings partially removed
The stripped chair

The old fabric cover was removed, followed by the various layers of stuffing, the support cloth and webbing.

Rebuilding started with new webbing, covered in a support cloth.

Webbing and support cloth added

These pieces were attached with staples which could be added, with care, around the areas damaged by the nails.

The new seat and cover complete

Hair was added making a seat pad and covered in barrier cloth ensuring conformance to current fire safety legislation.

The new cover fabric was attached and the edges trimmed in braid to complete the project.
