Lloyd Loom Chair Cushions

Lloyd Loom chairs have been handmade for well over a hundred years and still are! The kraft paper covered wire is very durable and many older chairs are still in use.

However, to make the chairs more comfortable, cushions are needed – and here are several versions for Lloyd Loom chairs, new and old, for indoors or patio use.

Plain seat cushions.

For an existing chair, then the only choice is the cover fabric. For the design, the shaping of the seat cushion is critical and the size of any throw cushion must be decided.

Our first project is for a pair of new Lloyd Loom chairs – each with a box seat cushion and a throw cushion for the back.

Striped chair cushions.

Another project for a pair of older Lloyd Loom chairs.

While very similar to the previous project, the choice of fabric changes the appearance hugely.

This project was for two dissimilar older Lloyd Loom chairs.

Floral seat cushions.

One of the chairs, apart from having a different shaped seat, also had a separate seat support that also needed a new fabric cover.

Another decision made by the upholsterer is how a pattern is placed.

Bird patterned chair cushions.
Cushion fabric aligned to centre line of pattern.

In this project the pattern was symmetrical and the same centre line was chosen for seat and throw cushion.

There are more Lloyd Loom chairs waiting to be worked on, so this page will be updated!
