Large Pouffe

The pouffe with original cover

A large pouffe had a worn and faded side cover. The top, with cord trim, and the zipped base were in fine shape – so just the wrap needed replacement.

The pouffe was 20”  high, 32” diameter – so 100” (2.5m) around.

Base of pouffe

First step was to remove the top along with the cord, keeping both to be reused.

Effect of sun fading the colours of the fabric

The base fabric was attached to the side wrap with a zip. The stitching holding it was removed and the base  taken off and also saved to be reused.

The stripped pouffe

The old, pale wrap – the faded front and pristine back illustrating the fading effect of sunlight – was removed to leave the pouffe ready for it’s new cover.

The whole Pouffe was covered in FR polyester wadding to ensure conformance to fire safety legislation.

The original base was sewn to one edge of the 2.5m of new side fabric.

The original top was sewn to the other edge and the ends of the side fabric sewn together.

Cord added back around the top

Finally, the old cord with tassels was sewn back on to complete the recovering of the Pouffe.
