Bench Cushions

Three cushions were wanted to add comfort to three small benches that provided seating around a table.

The cushions would be held in place with straps, connected around the seat with velcro and clamped into place by the under frame when screwed on. Using velcro would avoid the damage a zip pull could cause.

The gusset with piping edges added to the top cover fabric.

Piping was made and attached to both sides of fabric strips to make a 5cm gusset.

The straps made up for the three covers.

The gussets were attached to the cushion cover tops, following the line of stitching on the piping.

Straps were made up with 5cm velcro added near the ends.

The envelope cover, with Velcro added.

The cushion cover bottoms were made up of two pieces as an envelope with Velcro added to the overlapping edges. They were added to the gussets with the straps pinned in place.

The completed cover.

The completed covers were turned right side out.

The finished pads.

Pads of 5cm luxury foam were cut out to the sizes of the bench tops, wrapped in polyester wadding and slipped into the covers to complete the project.
