Two window seat cushions were required. They needed to be sized to fit existing spaces.
A small amount of some treasured fabric was available – but not enough to make two cushion covers.
The chosen filling was feathers. Two feather pads were purchased – nominally 2” thick. To ensure a good fit, they were made 2” wider than needed and 4” longer.

Two covers were made up, using the supplied fabric, backed with heavy calico. A gap was left on one side.
The pads were eased into the covers through the gap. The gap was then hand stitched closed.

To shape the cushions, tufts were added to the top, looped through the back – a knot was made using twine, one end of which was threaded through the cushion and back to the top. The two ends were tied below the knot and, to hide them, the ends were threaded through the pad and trimmed off.

And that was that! The two window seat cushions were delivered and dropped into position.
