Dining Chairs

Dining chairs are ‘simple’, as there is just one upholstered section. Fabric to top and bottom with stuffings between – same story as for stools.

The six recovered dining chairs

These dining chairs were given new covers – spicing up the dining room! You can see the details following this link or clicking on either of the images.

A simple change with dramatic results!

Our website has several other examples where the seat is attached to the frame with fabric or screwed on or fitted in a frame or held with pegs – and many varieties of those. A ‘simple’ idea made complicated!

JBerryUpholstery has many examples of furniture Recovering and Restoration and also Soft Furnishings to add to or complement the finished items. You can see pictures of these in the GalleriesRecovering Gallery, Restoration Gallery, Soft Furnishings Gallery and Transformations.

Reclining Chair

Logistics!

The original chair in frame.

Reclining Chairs of this style use a simple pivot and sliding base. This chair needed to be recovered but additionally the frame needed to be repainted – not really practical with the seat attached.

The chair frame.

The details of how that was achieved are in the project page – click any image.

One step was to take the chair out of the frame and then recover it.

But the frame still needed to be painted! Check out the very different final result HERE!

The finished chair - but unpainted frame.

Library Chair

The chair with old cover

Here is a post about a Library Chair whose appearance changed little but there was unexpected trauma en route!

Seat stuffings lifted

One helpful change, but nothing to do with the chair, was the addition of a seat cushion to raise the seat height.

Full details of the recovering work – plus repairing the seat stuffings – can be found HERE or please click on any of the images.

Modern Parker Knoll

Parker Knoll still continues to make excellent furniture in England after 150 years. We have documented the restoration of an older model, the PK708, and recovering of another older model, the PK988.

Chair on arrival

Here we have a much more modern Parker Knoll winged armchair. A new cover was wanted even though the original was still in good shape.

The modern build gives rise to many changes of materials used and construction methods – lots to learn!
